Our Team

Destiny Productions relies on the work of the survivors. Without them, nothing would get produced! But for their privacy and security we cannot disclose their names and photographs.

Destiny Productions Management Team is currently headed by:

smaritaSmarita Sengupta, Co-Founder and Co-Director

A Bengali native, Smarita is a social worker with a focus on business development. She worked for seven years with Apne Aap Women Worldwide, and currently consults them on the Income Generation Program and School Sponsorship Program. Smarita holds a Bachelors Degree in Commerce from Calcutta University and a Certificate of Marketing Management from Small Industries Service Institute. She started her career with the Italian Consulate in Kolkata, but left after 6 months to join an Event Management company. After 7 years as their Manager, this company changed into a nonprofit organization, Apne Aap Women Worldwide, and Smarita volunteered for 6 months. She soon realized that social work and anti-trafficking programs were her destiny, and worked for them for 5 years. She focused on using business as a means to empower the women, and started the Income Generation Program. Smarita started Destiny Productions to employ the survivors and high-risk women, and continues to consult Apne Aap on their economic livelihood programs.
