Thomas Clayton Center

The Clayton family made a generous donation to build the Thomas Clayton Center in Calcutta, India. After learning about the issue of human trafficking and slavery, the Claytons have been extremely supportive of TEN's efforts to provide economic opportunities to survivors. The Thomas Clayton Center is a safe working environment for women who are reintegrating into mainstream society after their rescue and rehabilitation by NGOs. 
 
Thomas Hartman Clayton was born and raised in Ohio. He attended Ohio State University and then served in World War II as a Merchant Marine. Upon his return to the US, he joined General Motors in Detroit and continued to work there until his retirement. He married Mary Murray and had four children, twelve grandchildren and countless golfing buddies. He was always supportive of women's rights, especially their important role in the workforce. This legacy will continue at the center in India, where women find employment and thus gain economic independence.
